About
MY BACKGROUND
I am a Mechanical Engineering student with a passion for designing solutions that serve others, combining CAD modeling, dimensioned drawings, and rapid prototyping to bring ideas to life. My interests span from technical design and data analysis to creative problem-solving in both academic and extracurricular environments.
During my first year at Florida State University, I was part of the Engineering Living Learning Community, giving me the opportunity to live amongst all engineering majors and take engineering design classes, immersing myself in collaborative projects such as the classic tower of cards and egg drop challenges. These early experiences with my peers sparked my enthusiasm for hands-on engineering and teamwork, opening me up to exploring career fairs featuring student organizations from ASME to POLY-PMSE to IEEE and more. Attending meetings from these organizations gave me the chance to hear diverse backgrounds and perspectives, broadening my view of engineering and its impact on different communities. The Innovation Hub at FSU also played an important role in my early development, giving me access to 3D printers and design resources. I enjoyed working on DIY projects, designing custom remote stands, functional book holders, and anything I could envision using CAD.
In my coursework, I have enjoyed applying engineering principles in practical settings, such as in ME Tools Lab, where I gained experience with machine tools including lathes, milling machines, CNCs, and band saws. A highlight was designing and fabricating a working Stirling engine in SolidWorks, then writing a paper explaining its thermodynamic performance with my peers. This experience deepened my appreciation for the intersection of design, prototyping, and data-driven analysis, while also strengthening my skills in mechanical design, fabrication, project management, and leadership.
During Fall 2024, I worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the High Performance Materials Institute (HPMI), contributing to NASA’s US-COMP project on advanced composites. I collaborated with a multidisciplinary team of graduate researchers to investigate the scalability of continuous CNT (carbon nanotube) yarn composites as competitive alternatives to traditional carbon fiber. My responsibilities included weaving CNT panels, preparing precise samples, performing tensile tests, and measuring resin density. This experience strengthened my skills in materials testing and data analysis, inspiring me to explore additional materials science applications in aerospace. Looking ahead, I am especially excited by new developments at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering, such as the NASA-funded project to study 3D printing for space exploration and ongoing research into bio-fabrication for regenerative medicine. Opportunities like this inspire me to think about how CAD and advanced manufacturing could help enable future missions and breakthroughs in aerospace.
As I continue my studies, I am eager to deepen my expertise in engineering-focused courses while seeking opportunities to work in laboratory or mechanical environments. My goal is to leverage my creativity, passion for problem-solving, and background in mathematics and science to design functional products and systems that benefit others, whether through advancing space technologies, improving materials for structural applications, creating tools for everyday needs, or using CAD to develop life-saving synthetic biomaterials.
